Set amongst most perfect surroundings - Walpole is situated overlooking the tranquil waters of the Walpole Inlet. Here you will find a small estuary that flows through a narrow channnel into the deeper, and much larger, Nornalup Inlet.
You will find yourself in amongst the wonderful towering karri and tingle forest where you can feel the gentle breezes as they whisper over hills and vales close by. Down at the water's edge stands of peppermint and she-oak adorn the luxuriant natural harmony of the area.
Here in Walpole you will see the karri forest meeting with the ocean. Some of these wonderful trees grow right down to the waters edge in and around the inlet. In addition to this unique point of interest you will learn that Walpole is the only place in the world where the giant tingle trees grow. These massive eucalypts demonstrate how the "Valley of the Giants" earned its name. These magnificent giants can reach heights of up to 60-70 metres. The tingle trees are not only tall, but are one of the largest girthed trees in the world, frequently growing in excess of 20m (60 feet) in circumference.
The inlets are fed by the Walpole, Deep and Frankland Rivers. Streams travel many kilometres through the timeless forest, past mountains that tower above the tingle canopy and eventually settle in the quiet coves that surround Walpole.
